Steelers Sign Ex Browns Safety

The Pittsburgh Steelers have added to their defensive secondary, and it's a familiar name in the AFC North.

Per NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo, safety Juan Thornhill signed a one-year deal to stay in the AFC North and play his former team twice per season.

Thornhill will be suiting up for the black and gold in Pittsburgh, one of the Browns' most bitter rivals. Cleveland released Thornhill on Feb. 24 as he was entering the final year of his three-year, $21 million contract.

The former second-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019 has been dealing with injuries of late and missed six games in 2023 and six games in 2024, but his numbers were impressive considering the time lost to calf injuries.

He posted 103 tackles and four passes defended while with the Browns.

Thornhill won two Super Bowls with the Chiefs while posting impressive numbers, appearing in 65 games with 52 starts. But he could never duplicate the eight interceptions in Cleveland that he posted in Kansas City after gaining a big contract in 2023.
