Eagles Poach ‘Significant’ Edge Rusher from Arch-Rival

If there's one thing that the Philadelphia Eagles love doing - outside of winning Super Bowls now - is picking on the New York Giants in any way they can.

Whether it's blowing out their rivals over the last two decades in playoff games, signing their top players and winning Super Bowls, or taking fliers on fan favorites just to see what they have, the Eagles have found clever ways to stick it to their arch-rival.

The latest move just shows that.

Philadelphia agreed to terms with free agent edge rusher Azeez Ojulari on a one-year deal worth $4 million. Adam Schefter was the first to report on the move.

The signing of Ojulari is significant for a number of different reasons. First, the Eagles needed added depth to the edge rusher group after losing Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, and potentially Brandon Graham in the future. Ojulari joins a backup group with recently signed Josh Uche and failed free agent Bryce Huff.

At 24 years old, Ojulari is an interesting prospect to work with. On the one hand, he has recorded 22 sacks in 46 games over his four-year run with the Giants. He has recorded 30 starts along the way.

The issue with a player like Ojulari, though, has been health. The former second-round pick has dealt with a plethora of injuries over the last few years that has kept him out of the lineup.

Injuries were a big part of Saquon Barkley's concerns as well.

Philadelphia has shown an ability to develop talent along the edge for years now. Taking a flier on Ojulari who isn't costing a ton is a typical low-risk, high-reward signing that the organization has been known to make.

And who knows, this could be the latest move that sticks it to their NFC East rivals once again.
