The Oklahoma City Thunder have been one of the NBA's marvelous stories this season.
After finishing second in the Most Valuable Player voting, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has played like he's on a revenge tour.
The 26-year-old point guard leads the NBA in scoring with 33 points per game.
Led by Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder are 56-12; the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference by an astounding 13 games. The team is on a three-game winning streak and is 9-1 over its last 10 games.
Golden State Warriors can help the OKC Thunder in a major way
The Golden State Warriors have turned their season around ever since the acquisition of small forward Jimmy Butler. With Butler in the lineup, the Warriors are 14-1.
They've crawled out of the proverbial basement and have moved from the No. 10 seed to the No. 6 seed in the West.
If the Warriors can continue their winning ways against the Denver Nuggets on Monday evening, it would significantly help out the Thunder.
A Warriors win against the Nuggets would result in the Thunder clinching the Northwest Division.
The Thunder would join the Cleveland Cavaliers as the only team to have clinched their respective division.
Golden State is 9-1 over its last 10 games, while the Nuggets are 5-5 in that span.
Denver will likely come out firing after an embarrassing loss to the Washington Wizards on Saturday.
With just under a month remaining in the regular season, teams will surely start jockeying for position down the final stretch.
The Nuggets are in a three-way at 43-25, but the Houston Rockets hold the tiebreaker for the No. 2 seed. The Nuggets hold the tie-breaker over the Memphis Grizzlies for the No. 3 seed.
Meanwhile, the Warriors are clenching the No. 6 seed with the Minnesota Timberwolves having won 8-of-10 and are on their tail for the No. 6 seed and looking to avoid the NBA Play-In Tournament.
