GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Cell phone companies are getting ready for a surge in demand when the NFL Draft begins next month.
U.S. cellular said they’ve dealt with big events like this in the past here in Wisconsin, including the PGA and the Republican National Convention.
They say cell coverage itself is not a problem.
But the towers don’t usually handle the demand the Draft will bring.
They’ve added equipment to essentially triple capacity.
“We actually have a tower right outside Lambeau Field, on each side of the stadium. So, from a tower perspective, we are covering with a couple of towers already, so it was more of a matter of adding additional capacity to those existing towers,” Scott Guyette, Senior System Performance Manager at U.S. cellular said.
The upgrades will remain in place once the Draft is done.
