The Colorado Buffaloes kicked off spring practice on March 11, gearing up for Year 3 under head coach Deion Sanders. With plenty of fresh faces and star players Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter off to the NFL, Coach Prime is looking to get his 2025 squad some valuable reps by facing off against another team this spring.
Deion Sanders isn't interested in the typical spring game format, where a team splits in two for an intrasquad scrimmage. Instead, he wants to take a more NFL-style approach, setting up joint practices with another team before the actual Spring Game.
"The Spring Game will be televised on ESPN2 … on the 19th (April)," Sanders said. "We got to sell this thing out and pack this thing because the way the trend is going, you never know if this is going to be the last spring game. I don't believe in that. I don't really want to condone that. I would like to play in the spring. Actually, I (would) like to play against another team in the spring. That's what I'm trying to do right now."
Shortly after his words went viral, Syracuse head coach Fran Brown chimed in, saying, "@DeionSanders we will come to Boulder for 3 days ."
Deion Sanders saw Brown's post on social media and replied to it.
"Love ya my brother! Coach Fran Brown is my Dawg!!!!!!" he wrote.

Deion Sanders believes that when his team plays against itself, players get too familiar with each other, making it harder for coaches to truly evaluate their skill levels.
"To have a competitive (game) against your own guys kind of gets monotonous," Deion Sanders added. "You really can't tell the level of your guys because, you know, it's the same old, same way. Everybody kind of know each other. Towards the end, I would like to style it like the pros. I would like to practice against someone for a few days, then you have the spring game and I think the public will be satisfied with that tremendously. I think it's a tremendous idea. I've told those personnel who should understand that it's a tremendous idea."
