Mongolian delegation attends meeting of UN Human Rights Committee

**AKIPRESS.COM** - The UN Human Rights Committee is convening in Geneva, Switzerland, from March 3 to March 28, to discuss countries' reports on the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), Montsame reported.

Mongolian government representatives led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs of Mongolia Myagmar Nergui presented Mongolia's 7th periodic report on the implementation of the ICCPR at the Committee's session on March 10-11. The Mongolian representatives introduced legal and regulatory reforms, policies, activities, and achievements in recent years regarding the implementation of the Covenant and answered questions from Committee members.

The Human Rights Committee welcomed the progress made in increasing women's representation in the Parliament of Mongolia and discussed a wide range of issues, including freedom of expression, speech, the press, peaceful assembly, and efforts to combat air pollution, corruption, and human trafficking.

The Mongolian delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the State Prosecutor’s Office, the Independent Authority Against Corruption, the General Authority for Child and Family Development and Protection, the General Executive Agency of Court Decision, the Secretariat for the Council for the Coordination of Crime Prevention, the National Police Agency, and the Immigration Agency.

The UN Human Rights Committee will publicly present its conclusions and recommendations following the report of Mongolia on March 21, 2025.
