Miami QB Cam Ward Gets Great News Ahead of NFL Draft

There has been a lot of talk since the college football season ended about how weak the 2025 class is at quarterback and how multiple players, including pass rusher Abdul Carter of Penn State or cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter might elevate above all of them on the draft board.

But in the end, like so many other years, it now appears that a quarterback is likely to end up the No. 1 overall pick. And according to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN via his Instagram account on Monday, March 17, that QB is going to be Cam Ward of the Miami Hurricanes.

"It certainly seems like there's a mounting consensus that Cam Ward is going to be the No. 1 pick," Schefter said on NFL Live.

The Tennessee Titans currently hold the top selection in the draft, and they are in need of a quarterback. However, there is no guarantee that the Titans will remain in that spot.

Tennessee could feasibly strike a deal with a team like the Cleveland Browns at No. 2, New York Giants at No. 3, Las Vegas Raiders at No. 6 or New York Jets at No. 7, acquire the corresponding top-10 pick plus another first-rounder down the road and still draft an elite player at a premier position.

The Raiders and the Jets made short-term plays under center in recent days via a trade for Geno Smith and the signing of Justin Fields, respectively. But that doesn't necessarily preclude either team from moving up if they believe in Ward and think he's worth it.

The Giants have also made an offer to Aaron Rodgers and are waiting for the four-time MVP to make his decision between joining them, or teaming up with the Pittsburgh Steelers or Minnesota Vikings. But Rodgers would likely be a stopgap solution in New York, so Ward would remain a viable option even after a future signing.

Cleveland, meanwhile, traded with the Philadelphia Eagles for Kenny Pickett and has only an injured Deshaun Watson in the QB room otherwise. The Browns have been described as desperate for a signal caller and may be willing to sacrifice a meaningful draft asset to move up one spot and guarantee they get the player of their choice

So while it's fairly clear now that Ward will be the top QB selected and go ahead of Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, precisely where he's headed remains anyone's guess.
