Isaiah Collier Sets Up Lauri Markkanen Dunk With Alley-Oop Off Backboard

SALT LAKE CITY – Rookie dimes and veteran dunks. What else could you ask for?

In the second quarter against the Chicago Bulls, Isaiah Collier set up Lauri Markkanen on the fastbreak with an alley-oop pass off of the backboard.

Markkanen got off to a hot start in the first half, leading all scorers with 16 on 50 percent from the field.

Collier also had a productive half with four points, five rebounds, and seven assists.

Utah trailed by one at the break. If it wasn’t for doubling the Bulls turnover count, they could have held a somewhat comfortable lead through two.

At the midway point the @utahjazz trail the @chicagobulls 54-53.

Unlike some recent games, Markkanen was on the court for second-half action. Substantial minutes meant that he would have his first real shot to drop 30 for the first time in over a month.

Speaking of reaching stat marks, Collier continued to work towards John Stockton’s rookie assist record. Through two quarters against the Bulls, he was just 37 assists from tying that record.

Jazz Open Homestand By Closing Season Series With Bulls

The Utah Jazz are back in town to kick off a six-game homestand, starting with the Chicago Bulls tonight.

Utah is currently on its longest losing streak of the season at nine games. However, the bulk of that streak came via road games. They have only lost three straight at home. Coming into the matchup with the Bulls, Utah has the worst record in the NBA at 15-53.

Despite sitting at 28-39, Chicago is still in the Eastern Conference postseason picture as the 10-seed. The Bulls lost their last game in Houston but won four straight before that 117-114 loss.

This is the second and final matchup between Utah and Chicago this season. The Jazz beat the Bulls at the United Center for their first win of the season back on November 4.
