'It's not good enough': Huijsen frustrated at Cherries defence in Bees defeat

Bournemouth led 1-0 after a Vitaly Janelt own goal, but the Bees came from behind to score from two set pieces to turn the game around and collect the points.

The first goal saw Yoane Wissa head home from a Brian Mbeumo corner, before Christian Norgaard smashed home after he reacted quickest to a bouncing ball from a Kevin Schade long throw.

Speaking to Premier League productions after the game, Huijsen summed up his feelings on the game, saying it was ‘so frustrating’.

“It's so easy,” he said.

“We gave it away so easy. I blame myself, too, it's not good enough.

“Two set pieces, they scored, they didn't create nothing. You know, we could have probably scored another goal, but it can't be that easy to score set pieces like that against us.”

Andoni Iraola had highlighted Brentford’s threat at set pieces in his pre-match press conference, with Huijsen saying that they have to be better at defending them, particularly when they are a key strength of the opposition.

Asked if the Cherries are lacking a bit of ruthlessness up front to not convert chances into goals, Huijsen said: “Maybe. I think we could maybe score another goal.

“But it starts with defending. We always score and it has to be better.”

The loss to the Bees was the Cherries’ third in a row at home in the Premier League, after defeats to Liverpool and Wolves.

On that run, Huijsen said: “It happens. And we've been doing very well.

“I don't think our play has been bad, to be honest, I don't think our play has been bad at all. We definitely deserve to get more points in these last few games, but it's frustrating.”

He continued: “The results are just not coming our way.

“Even for example, Spurs, Brighton, even Wolves, when we got a red card, I think we definitely could have gotten at least two wins out of those, maybe. And yeah, it's just frustrating.”
