There was a considerable level of concern for Domantas Sabonis' injury status for Monday's matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies after the Sacramento Kings star aggravated his hamstring injury during Friday's 122-106 loss against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Sabonis, however, got the clearance to play on Monday as the Kings hosted a Ja Morant-less Grizzlies side at the Golden 1 Center. Unfortunately, Sabonis' evening ended abruptly after he was forced to exit the game in the third quarter.
Sabonis headed to the locker room in the first quarter after suffering a laceration over his left eye, but he was able to return. This was not the case, though, after he suffered a nasty-looking ankle injury later in the game.

The Kings were dealt some unfortunate news after the extent of Sabonis' injury was determined. While the details of the ankle issue have not yet been revealed, it was severe enough for the Kings to decide to pull him out of the game entirely.

Sabonis looked like he was in significant pain after suffering the injury. The three-time All-Star had to be helped to the locker room, and he clearly had trouble putting weight on the injured foot.

Sabonis finished the game with six points, one rebound and four assists in 12 minutes of action.
He will likely undergo more tests to determine how much time, if any, he will need to miss because of this injury.
The Kings, who entered Monday's contest on a four-game losing streak, cannot afford to lose Sabonis right now. They are ninth in the West but are still battling to secure a Play-In spot in the conference.
Sacramento will be back in action on Wednesday against the league-best Cleveland Cavaliers, and Sabonis' status for that one will certainly be worth monitoring.
