Manchester United have been linked to the attacker who has scored 27 goals this season in all competitions.

Manchester United are set to make significant moves in the summer transfer window, as they will aim to bring in players that suit Ruben Amorim’s system. They won 3-0 against former interim Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City in their last game.

They signed Patrick Dorgu in January, but are yet to sign an attacker under Amorim, something that looks to be a priority for the summer. United have been linked with an ex-Premier League star, who is now playing in La Liga, he has scored 27 goals in all competitions this season.

Man United ‘submit bid’ for Raphinha

The Red Devils are looking to add goals in the summer despite scoring three goals in two of their last three league games. They have now been linked to former Leeds United star Raphinha.

According to Spanish outlet Fijaches, Man United have submitted a surprise £59 million bid to sign the Barcelona attacker, who has scored 27 times this season in all competitions.

The 28-year-old has been key for Barca again this season, making 42 appearances for the club. He has 27 goals and 21 assists for the Spanish giants, hence why he has such a high asking price.

Manchester United are in need of wing players who can fit into Amorim’s front three, Raphinha being one of them. He can play both on the left and the right, and also as a number 10.

Furthermore, the Brazilian also has plenty of Premier League experience during his time at Leeds United between 2020 and 2022. He made 65 appearances for the club in the top flight, scoring 17 goals and providing 12 assists.

He then moved from Yorkshire to Barcelona for a fee of £55million. With the Spanish club expected to demand a hefty price tag for Raphinha, it isn’t clear yet as to whether they would be willing to accept United’s reported £59m offer.

Raphinha could replace departing Antony

As Raphinha could be on his way into Old Trafford, they have a winger who is set to permanently leave in the summer. Antony left on loan for La Liga side Real Betis in January and has since performed well for the club. However, despite his performances, United are expected to sell him in the summer transfer window.

There is no option or obligation to buy Antony in his loan deal with Betis, but they could decide to make an offer for him should the Brazilian winger want to stay.

A recent report by ManchesterWorld said that United would need to sell Antony for just over £32 million to avoid making a loss on the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

They could sell Antony in the summer and use any profit that they make on the winger to fund a move for Raphinha, who would suit Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.
