Pistons Make Franchise History in Victory Over Pelicans

The Detroit Pistons entered Monday's matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans looking to end their two-game losing streak.

That is exactly what they were able to do as Detroit dominated their way by New Orleans 127-81.

Cade Cunningham led the way for the Pistons, recording 24 points, four rebounds and eight assists in the victory. He was the only starter for the Pistons who scored in double digits and he also played a game high 30 minutes in the matchup.

While Cunningham was the only starter who scored in double digits for Detroit, they have four players do so off the bench including Simone Fontecchio who recorded 23 pints and seven rebounds and shot a perfect 5-5 from three-point range.

With the blowout victory, the Pistons also made franchise history as they defeated the Pelicans by a whopping 46 points.

This marks the second largest victory in franchise history and is the first time they have held a team to 81 or less points since Jan. 10, 2018, when they defeated the Brooklyn Nets 114-80.

Of course, it has been a remarkable season thus far for the Pistons as they have completely turned things around compared to the past couple of seasons.

Detroit has finished with the worst record in the NBA over the past two seasons, but they currently sit sixth in the Eastern Conference standings with a 38-31 record.

The Pistons also trail the Milwaukee Bucks by just one game for the fourth seed in the East and they also sit just one game back of the Indiana Pacers for the fifth seed.

With the Pistons picking up a dominant victory on Monday to end their losing streak, they now hope that it will light a fire under the team as they look to continue to climb the East standings before the playoffs begin.
