Manchester United youngster Chido Obi has enjoyed a productive 2025 so far and now he is ready for another new step.
With 15 goals for Manchester United’s academy this season, only making his under-18s debut in mid-October, Chido Obi wasted no time at all bedding in at Carrington.
Chido made his Manchester United first team debut in mid-February, becoming Ruben Amorim’s first academy debutant, and the 252nd to make the step up in the history of the club.
Now his progressive 2024/25 season continues, as he continues on the international stage.

Chido Obi call-up
Chido Obi will spend the international break with Denmark’s under-21 squad. Coach Steffen Hojer has admitted it is a little early, but he is curious about the United forward.
Denmark have promoted two strikers from the under-21s to the senior squad to compete with Rasmus Hojlund, opening up a place.
Subsequently, Hojer has been in touch with Manchester United about Chido, and is looking forward to working with him.
He told Danish outlet Bold that he likes that he hears about the 17-year-old, commenting: “I’ve spoken to an assistant coach from United who says that Chido doesn’t hold back when they train over there.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him, and I’m also looking forward to giving him the peace he needs now, to just come in and see what this is all about.”
He added: “He has some unique qualities. He has a wild physique and is a strong finisher, so they have seen that there as well. That is why they give him those minutes.”
Referring to his involvement with the Manchester United first team, Hojer acknowledges that the Red Devils’ poor season has created an opening for Obi.
Alternately, he adds: “It also shows something that they still dare to put a 17-year-old Dane on the United team in the situation they are in now.”
Chido Obi international record
Chido Obi made two appearances for England’s under-16s, featuring in the same starting XI as current United prospects Harry Amass and Shea Lacey.
And while he could still commit to England, his priority is Denmark, having now represented the country at three different age groups before getting his under-21 call.
Appearances Goals
Denmark under-16s 6 3
Denmark under-17s 19 12
Denmark under-18s 4 2
With goals at every turn, Chido Obi can be expected to continue scoring for Denmark’s under-21s, and return to United with added confidence.
