White House considering recognizing Crimea as Russian territory for peace deal — Semafor

The White House is considering officially recognizing Ukraine’s occupied Crimean peninsula as Russian territory as part of a future peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, Semafor reported on Monday, citing two people familiar with the situation.

Washington is also discussing the possibility of urging the U.N. to do the same, the sources said.

Semafor noted that no decisions have been made yet, and that these options are just two of many the Trump team is exploring as part of its efforts to end the war in Ukraine. The White House declined to comment.
