Consul General Chen Shijie visited the New Zealand Friendship for Peace Association and held discussions with its president Qiao Zhibing and board members on 11 March.

Chen said that the New Zealand Friendship for Peace Association has long been actively engaged in mutual assistance, promoting fine traditional Chinese culture, and carrying forward the spirit of Rewi Alley. The association has made positive contributions to fostering mutual understanding and friendly exchanges between the people of China and New Zealand. In the new year ahead, Chen hoped that local overseas Chinese will continue to support China’s development and the cause of peaceful reunification while jointly promoting the sound and stable development of China-New Zealand relations. The Consulate-General will remain committed to the principle of “diplomacy for the people” and continue to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese.

President Qiao and board members made a briefing upon the association’s development history and latest activities, emphasizing their commitment to the founding mission. They expressed their dedication to strengthening internal organization, uniting and serving members, and promoting friendly exchanges between China and New Zealand through concrete actions.
