Ian Wright has noticed something about Pereira on the touchline as he drops exciting new Wolves …

Wolves have endured a tough season, but Ian Wright believes the club is in capable hands with Vitor Pereira.

Wolves established a nine-point gap between themselves and the bottom three on Saturday, beating Southampton 2-1 at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Jorgen Strand Larsen fired two goals for the visitors, which were his first of the calendar year.

The Norwegian has been criticised by some Wolves fans lately, but really came in clutch against the Saints.

Alan Shearer now believes the race for Premier League survival is definitely over, and that the current bottom three will go down.

There is still work to be done for Wolves. But undoubtedly, Vitor Pereira is well on his way to achieving his biggest objective.

He has turned out to be a great appointment, and pundit Ian Wright made a positive prediction about the club at the weekend.

As things currently stand, Wolves are nine points clear of the relegation zone.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

New Opta data has suggested there’s only a 1.8% chance that Wolves will slip back into the relegation zone from this point.

Pereira was brought in to guide Wolves to safety and he is certainly doing that.

His appointment was a risk, but the Portuguese looks to be a great fit at Molineux, and his comments about being one of the Wolves fans will have only endeared him to the fanbase further.

Ian Wright spoke about Wolves after their win over Southampton on The Kelly and Wrighty Show.

And what strikes him about Pereira is his energy on the touchline.

He said: “The way you watch him on the line, how animated he is… I think that the standards will go up with Wolves. I think we’ll see a better Wolves next season.

“You (the players) take on that personality on the pitch. It’s probably the same in training, he’s probably even more animated in training. He wants it right, he wants it intense, and you end up just slipping into that kind of personality when you’re playing.”

Wolves could go places under Vitor Pereira, but he needs backing

The team has improved so much under Pereira and this appointment is actually starting to feel quite exciting.

At the moment, it is simply about getting to the end of the season and securing safety. Then, the work can begin for next season.

Wolves have the potential to get back on track under Pereira, who you get the sense is privileged to be in this job.

He has already proven himself tactically, and in the summer it will just be about backing him, to give him the chance to take this club onwards.

Fans won’t hold their breath with Fosun though, with several managers having previously suggested they did not receive adequate support.

But given how poor this season has been, the owners will hopefully give Pereira the tools he needs to thrive from next season.
