Fiorentina’s Edoardo Bove suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch earlier this season, during a Serie A game against Inter Milan.
He’s now revealed he’s received support from Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen, who is one of the people best placed to know what Bove has been going through.
During the European Championships in 2021, Eriksen also suffered a cardiac arrest and that meant he had to change clubs.
The then-Inter Milan player had to depart Serie A due to regulations around relating to the Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator he had fitted. He joined Brentford and then moved to Manchester United in the summer of 2022.
Bove is yet to return to action and there has been talk of a move to the Premier League. He’s appeared as a guest on the Passa Dal BSMT podcast and talked about how he feels very lucky.
He said, as relayed by [CalcioMercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/bove-rivela-in-ambulanza-cercavo-di-mordere-tutti-ero-indemoniat-75056): _“We depend on those who walk next to us, because if you walk down the street and the person next to you knows how to give first aid, it saves your life. Then you also need defibrillators around._
_“I’m grateful for how it went, because in the tragedy I was in the right place at the right time. It happened to me at the time of the match, if I had been on my own maybe things would have gone differently. I feel really lucky.”_
When speaking about support received from the Manchester United player, the midfielder said: _“He called me right away, I didn’t know him._
_“It was nice, he immediately showed me his closeness. In the end there is a sort of closeness for what one goes through. He told me that the first thing now is to stay calm, rest and be with my family.”_
It’s no surprise the 33-year-old reached out to support a much younger player, and is another positive mark for Eriksen’s character.
The Manchester United man has had a pretty good career even after he suffered the cardiac arrest back in 2021 and this should also prove to be encouraging to Bove, who has been [linked](http://sportwitness.co.uk/everton-can-give-player-option-to-continue-his-career-friedkins-connection-would-prove-vital/) with Everton in recent weeks.
