Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has included Anthony Elanga in his squad for this international break after the Nottingham Forest player contacted him to resolve a recent spat.
Jon Dahl Tomasson had revealed this last week, and the winger has since confirmed he had a chat with the manager. Aftonbladet have relayed his comments.
The Nottingham Forest player was an unused substitute for Sweden in both matches in October. He was unhappy with this and didn’t attend the group dinner and ignored calls from the coach.
Jon Dahl Tomasson left Elanga out of the squad for November’s international break. The 22-year-old stopped responding to the manager’s calls and texts before reaching out to the Dane to sort out the spat.
This has seen the Nottingham Forest player return to the Sweden squad for the two friendlies against Luxembourg and Northern Ireland this month.
On the conversation with the manager, he said: “I just wanted to call him up and talk. We had a very good chat, we talked about everything, how I am doing in Nottingham and how life is. It was a very good chat, he is a very good coach and a fantastic person. I wanted to call him up and talk.”
When asked if he was nervous prior to reaching out, Elanga explained: “No, I am never nervous. But it was good to call and talk to him.”
The attacker didn’t provide any explanation over why Jon Dahl Tomasson wasn’t able to reach him despite repeated attempts.
“Not at all. Now I’m here and … We’re talking two, three weeks ago. I don’t remember much of what happened then. A lot has happened in recent weeks. What has happened has happened. I just want to look ahead,” he added.
Elanga has managed five goals and nine assists from 32 games for Nottingham Forest this season.
