Newcastle United are among the clubs in the race to sign Málaga CF’s Antonio Cordero in the summer window.
Last week, we covered claims from Spain which stated the Magpies have made a ‘strong bid’ for the winger. It was also reported FC Porto have matched Newcastle’s offer.
Marca make no mention of Porto in their latest report from journalist José Félix Díaz, and he focuses on Newcastle United.
Real Madrid and Barcelona have been credited with interest in the 18-year-old. Marca’s title says his ‘future points to Newcastle’ amid interest from the La Liga giants.
The Spain U19 international has less than four months left on his contract. Málaga have tried to secure an extension but have received negative responses from both him and his agent, Pini Zahivi.
Marca points out the representative’s good relationship with Barcelona had given them an advantage. They then state the situation has changed ‘right now’ and Newcastle are the ‘favourite’ to sign the youngster.
The newspaper explains that barring an unexpected change, Cordero’s future will be with the EFL Cup winners.
Cordero managed five goals and six assists from 29 matches in the second division this season.
