Warriors Make Wrong Kind of NBA History During Loss to Nuggets

The Golden State Warriors took on the Denver Nuggets, at home, on Monday night. The Nuggets found themselves shorthanded, as Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Christian Braun, and Julian Strawther were all ruled out prior to the start of the game.

The Warriors, currently in sixth place in the Western Conference, were riding a seven-game winning streak heading into Monday's matchup. The Warriors fell to the Nuggets 114-105 behind a Russell Westbrook triple-double (No. 203 of his career) and Aaron Gordon's season-high 38 points.

Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler have been playing well together since Butler was acquired from the Miami Heat, but Monday was a letdown of historic proportions.

The Warriors made the wrong kind of history against the Nuggets becoming the first team in NBA or WNBA history to make less than 25% of their 3-pointers (on 30 or more attempts), make less than 60% of their free throws (on 25 or more attempts), while also having at least 20 turnovers in the same game.

The Warriors tonight are the first team in NBA or WNBA history with...

- under 60% from the line (on 25+ fta)

- 20+ turnovers

The majority of the Warriors regular lineup was active on Monday, with only shooting guard, Brandon Podziemski sidelined with a lower back strain.

The Warriors have now lost nine consecutive regular season games to the Nuggets. The last time the Warriors beat the Nuggets in the regular season was Thursday, March 10, 2022 (113-102).

With 14 games remaining in the regular season for the Warriors, they are slated to take on the Nuggets one more time on Friday, April 4. The Warriors will also look to bounce back in their next game, on Tuesday, against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, has already said Curry could "potentially" sit out the second of a back-to-back against the Bucks due to his star point guard being "exhausted".
