Report: Why Chelsea could be about to miss out on 'world-class' target

Chelsea supporters will be desperate to see their club strengthen a couple areas of the squad in the summer.

With Pedro Neto playing up front right now, Chelsea could definitely do with a new striker coming in.

There is a high chance of that happening, as the Blues continue to be linked with several centre-forwards. Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap is one name on Chelsea’s shortlist.

As well as a No.9, Chelsea fans will also want to see another goalkeeper arrive if the club do not see Djordje Petrovic or Mike Penders as an option for the 2025/26 season.

Chelsea bid for Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher not certain

One shot-stopper who is thought to be on Chelsea’s radar right now is Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Kelleher is one name Chelsea are currently considering. However, there is no guarantee that the Blues will actually make an offer for him.

A report from The Sun claims that while Chelsea are interested in Kelleher, they will not commit to making a bid for the 26-year-old.

Rather than the Blues, the same outlet states that it is Bournemouth who are in poll position to land Kelleher’s signature.

Kepa Arrizabalaga has impressed at Bournemouth this season and is currently Andoni Iraola’s first-choice goalkeeper.

But the Cherries signed the Spaniard on loan from Chelsea and do not have a buy option, which is why they may need to bring in Kelleher.

Chelsea fans will want Caoimhin Kelleher

Some Chelsea supporters are likely to be disappointed if the club miss out on Kelleher after Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen’s performances in the current campaign.

Both goalkeepers have disappointed in the Premier League at times, especially the former, who has made a lot of mistakes.

When given an opportunity at Liverpool, Kelleher has really impressed, on the other hand.

“I always said that he is a world-class goalkeeper,” Virgil van Dijk was quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo when discussing his teammate last year. “It is very difficult to be a second keeper but there is no shame in being second goalkeeper to one of, if not the best goalkeeper in the world.”

However, it looks like Chelsea could go into the 2025/26 season with Sanchez and Jorgensen still being their two main goalkeepers.
