Eduardo Camavinga is open to the idea of joining Man City this summer amid concerns about his place in the squad at Real Madrid.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 22-year-old has grown frustrated at the Bernabeu.

Instead, he would be interested in the idea of working under Pep Guardiola where he would have a more important role in the starting XI.

Camavinga has had his playing time reduced by injuries this season, but even when fit he remains on the fringes of the first-team, starting just 16 of his 27 appearances.

As a result, there is a belief that the deal is there to be done if Man City opt to pursue it, although the Spanish giants will not let him leave for a cheap fee.

Football Insider revealed on 16 Marc that Real Madrid will demand £70million for Camavinga, who is on a long-term contract until 2029.

However, the deal could become easier for City if the France international midfielder decides to push for a move away from Los Blancos.

Despite his age, Camavinga has plenty of trophy-winning experience, having lifted two La Liga titles, two Champions Leagues, one Spanish Cup and the Club World Cup with Madrid.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that Guardiola is a fan of the France midfielder and could prove pivotal to the deal.

“Every time I’ve watched Camavinga, I’ve been very impressed,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s a very influential player when he’s on the pitch, so I’m surprised he hasn’t played a bigger role since he moved there from France.

“Whether the manager isn’t happy with him or just prefers other options, I don’t know.

“But I have heard Pep Guardiola is a fan of his, which would explain the interest from Man City.

“They’re looking to strengthen their side in the summer and I think Camavinga is a real option.

“I think he’s frustrated with his lack of regular football at Real Madrid and could look to move.

“He’ll want to go to a club where he can play more regular football and will welcome the chance to play under Pep Guardiola to continue to improve his game.

“It’s a win-win as far as he and City are concerned, so if they can get that deal done, I think it would be a good one for all parties.”

Pep Guardiola set to axe midfield star after source’s reveal

As City put plans in place to improve their midfield options this summer, concerns about their current options and potential exits have emerged.

Brown told Football Insider in February that Man City are prepared to spend big amid concerns about the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva.

However, there is one forgotten man who could push for an exit this summer as Football Insider exclusively revealed Kalvin Phillips wants to return to Leeds.

Phillips, 29, no longer has a future under Guardiola and will be allowed to leave the Etihad when he returns from his loan spell at Ipswich Town.
