Pack-A-Day: What's next for the Packers?

Mock Draft Monday 9.0

Well, that wasn't very fun. After a promising 11-4 start to the season, Green Bay never won their 12th, dropping their last two regular-season games and their playoff opener in Philadelphia.

For the first time in what seems like forever, the Packers don't have extra draft capital from trading away a franchise centerpiece (Rodgers/Adams). It's just a regular old draft in the late/middle part of each round. There is of course one massive difference: the Packers are hosting April's draft in Titletown.

Here is the mock draft discussed in the video.

SLIDE3 of 8

PFF

John Kosko - Mykel Wiliams, EDGE Georgia - Mykel is a top 12 player for me in this class. Getting a player with his talent level outside the top 20 would be a massive win for the Packers and really improve what they're doing up front.

33rd Team

Kyle Crabbs - MORE MYKEL

Curt Popejoy - Jahdae Barron, DB Texas - We stand up and salute anyone who mocks Jahdae Barron to the Green Bay Packers. Barron is a skilled and versatile defensive backs who could upgrade their secondary at any spot that isn't free safety and could back up McKinney there as well.

Kyle Stackpole - Derrick Harmon, IDL Oregon - Harmon is probably the most likely Packers pick. He makes sense from a positional standpoint, fits in with what they like, and is quite excellent. He's very disruptive.

Packers on SI

Bill Huber - Matthew Golden, WR Texas, Jack Sawyer, EDGE Ohio State, Deone Walker, IDL Kentucky, Nohl Willimas, CB Cal - I just don't see it with this one. I wouldn't take Golden there, I don't think he's proven enough against man coverage to warrant a first-round pick and I can't see him being the wide receiver that breaks the first round tradition. Jack Sawyer has arms that are too short and the Packers haven't historically taken defensive tackles that are overly tall. I do think they'll be in on Nohl Williams, though. I just don't see the Packers targeting these guys.

I like this a lot. Donovan E isn't something they would normally do, but the next three picks are and I like the next three picks quite a bit, especially Cornelius in the third round. I could get behind this in a big way.
