Cesare Casadei had a loan stint at Leicester City during the first half of the 2023/24 season.
He returned to Stamford Bridge after that and in the recent winter transfer window was sold to Torino on a permanent basis.
His stint in Turin is going really well and as a result of that, he was called up to the Italian national team some days ago.
During a press conference, the midfielder was asked about his time in England and Casadei revealed his gratitude towards Chelsea and Leicester City.
He said, as relayed by FCInterNews: “The experience abroad has given me a lot. I can speak for myself, it is not the same for everyone and everyone has to make their own journey. I can only say that these two years in England have given me a lot, I came out of it different as a person and as a footballer.”
Casadei also spoke about the differences between how the game is played in England and Italy, saying: “I can only thank those who helped me, I am proud of the journey I have made. It is a different football to the Italian one. From a technical point of view one of the main differences is in the intensity, but Serie A is also very intense and competitive. It is perhaps the main difference.”
The fact that Casadei could soon make his debut for Italy should make Leicester City proud. Even though he played only 25 times for the Foxes, this came at a time when the midfielder wasn’t playing enough at Chelsea and wanted game time to prove himself.
Leicester City helped him launch his career in England and played a key part in his development as a footballer. How they could do with a rising star like Casadei now!
