West Ham have another striker in their sights as they look to strengthen the position this summer.
West Ham have reportedly identified another possible striker signing as they look to add options at the top end of the pitch. The Hammers haven’t had much luck up top this season, signing Niclas Fullkrug, who has struggled with injury all season, while Michail Antonio was lost for the reason after a nasty car crash.
Fullkrug is likely to return after the break, but Antonio admits himself that his recovery process will be a long one. Elsewhere, Evan Ferguson was signed on a loan deal from Brighton, but he has not made a significant impact just yet.
In the summer, it is almost certain that Graham Potter will address the position as he looks to put his stamp on his squad, especially with Danny Ings out of contract, and a number of frontmen are already being linked as a result.
One of the latest is Strasbourg frontman Emanuel Emegha, who is catching the eye at just 22 years of age. The Netherlands under-21s international has scored 11 goals in 23 appearances for Strasbourg this season, while he has 19 goals in 48 league appearances for the French side overall since arriving from Sturm Graz in 2023.
According to The Boot Room, West Ham are currently tracking Emegha as they line up a striker signing for the summer. It’s likely Strasbourg would demand a significant fee, with their star frontman under contract until 2028 as things stand. While Transfermarkt value him at £12.6million, he is likely to cost significantly more than that.
Chelsea have also been linked, and it’s worth noting that the Blues have the inside track if they want it due to the fact Strasbourg share the same owners. Elsewhere, Everton are also said to hold interest in Emegha, who may have his pick of clubs this summer, especially if he continues the strong form he has managed in recent times. Emegha has scored eight goals in his last 11 league games for Strasbourg. He is the fifth top scorer in Ligue 1 overall.
