David Moyes has until 30th June to make a really key Everton decision - opinion

David Moyes will lead a major squad overhaul in the summer transfer window.

The Friedkin Group are planning to back David Moyes with a big budget this summer and they’re working on reshaping the recruitment team, too.

Everton are already eyeing Tom Fellows after his productive season in the Championship with West Bromwich Albion.

Hamza Igamane is also being linked to Goodison Park, with the Gers demanding around £25m for his signature.

Moyes has an important internal decision to make, too, and the deadline is 30th June.

David Moyes has until 30th June to extend Idrissa Gana Gueye’s contract

Idrissa Gana Gueye has been one of Everton’s standout performers this year, even under the previous regime with Sean Dyche.

The veteran midfielder has been in fine form under Moyes, too, and there’s a big decision to make over his future.

Gueye’s contract is due to expire on the 30th of June and at this stage, there’s been no progress on extending his deal.

Everton News reported earlier this month that Gueye is keen to remain on Merseyside, but, until the club are mathematically safe from relegation, it appears they won’t open contract talks.

Gana Gueye would be valuable next season

With Everton set to leave Goodison Park for Bramley Moore-Dock next season, it’s important their squad has some old heads around.

Moyes will need experience to make the transition smooth, so it’s vital Gueye’s contract is extended for at least another year.

The Senegal international knows the club inside and out and is still one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

With Orel Mangala out with a serious injury and due to return to Lyon in the summer, Everton can’t afford to lose another ball-winner in the midfield.
