Jadon Sancho has been given the cold shoulder by former Chelsea ace William Gallas, who reckons the England winger shouldn't stick around at Stamford Bridge next season.

Sancho rocked up in west London from Manchester United last summer with a point to prove after being sidelined at Old Trafford.

He kicked off with some promising displays under Enzo Maresca but has since hit a dry spell, failing to find the net since his goal against Tottenham on December 8 and notching his last assist in a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace on January 4.

Despite starting against Arsenal, he didn't leave his mark on the game.

Chelsea are tied into a deal to snap up Sancho for about £25million if they end up above 14th place – with the Blues currently fourth in the Premier League.

But Chelsea can wriggle out of the deal by coughing up some cash to United, and Gallas insists Sancho isn't cut out for a permanent move to Chelsea based on his current form, reports the Mirror.

Gallas, who donned the Chelsea shirt 225 times from 2001 to 2006, suggested Sancho needs to step up his game if he wants to secure a permanent transfer, slamming the idea that he can "play well for a few games and then chill out".

"He's a talented player, everybody knows this, but we don't know why he can't perform and can't show what he can do," the ex-defender expressed to Stadium Astro.

"At Dortmund, he was magnificent. At Manchester United it didn't work well for him. He came to Chelsea and at the beginning we saw that Sancho from Dortmund, but then he disappeared.

"I don't know what the problem is, but at the moment he can't stay at Chelsea because he has to do more. When you play in the Premier League you have to play every game at the highest level. It's not easy, but you can't just play well for a few games and then chill out."

Sancho clocked 76 minutes against Arsenal but only managed 34 touches, none of which were inside the Arsenal box, and failed to land a shot on target.

There's already a growing chorus among Chelsea fans calling for the termination of his loan deal, even if it means coughing up a hefty fee to Manchester United.
