Eddie Howe could bag himself a massive pay rise this season if he can guide Newcastle United to more success after winning the Carabao Cup.
Newcastle United made history on Sunday by defeating Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final and winning the club’s first domestic trophy since 1955.
It was a magnificent day at Wembley, with Dan Burn and Alexander Isak grabbing the crucial goals in the 2-1 win, and fans will be basking in the glow of it for some time.
In fact, there will even be a date for more celebration when Newcastle hold an open-top bus parade on March 29.
That will give fans a chance to thank the players and Eddie Howe, who became the first manager since Doug Livingstone to win a major trophy for the Magpies.
Howe has written himself into Newcastle’s history but he could be about to earn a more tangible reward from his paymasters as well.

According to The Sun, Howe could see his yearly salary increase by a massive 50% this summer thanks to a clause in the new contract he signed last season.
The 47-year-old currently earns £6m a year, after signing a deal until 2028, but would see that increase by £3m to £9m a year if he can guide Newcastle to the Champions League.

Should he achieve that, then he would rise from the sixth-best-paid manager in the Premier League to the third.

Can Newcastle United qualify for the Champions League?
Another benefit of Newcastle claiming the Carabao Cup is they have become the first English team to secure their place in Europe next season.
The Toon will definitely be back on their travels in the forthcoming campaign as they have qualified for the Europa Conference League at a minimum.
However, Newcastle will have much higher aims than the continental third tier and are hoping to return to the biggest stage. It’s a big possibility.
The vital victory over West Ham ahead of the final put Newcastle back up to sixth in the Premier League table, just a point behind Manchester City with a game in hand.
Thanks to England’s strong coefficient rating, 5th will likely be a Champions League place this season and, besides, Newcastle are only two points behind Chelsea in fourth as well.
If the momentum builds following the joyous cup triumph, there’s no reason why they can’t reach the big time again.
