Steph Curry Downplays Fatigue Talk But Points to Another Troubling Issue

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry dismissed concerns about exhaustion after a disappointing performance in a 114-105 home loss to the Denver Nuggets on Monday night.

Despite head coach Steve Kerr suggesting fatigue may have played a role, Curry downplayed the notion and instead pointed to another issue: his lingering back discomfort.

The four-time NBA champion struggled against a short-handed Nuggets team missing Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Curry finished with 20 points on 6-of-21 shooting, including 4-of-14 from 3-point range, while committing seven turnovers.

"I feel fine," Curry said postgame, according to 95.7 The Game. "Obviously, I didn't play great at all, so everybody, including coach, is gonna try to figure out why… I feel like more so my back that I've been dealing with. See how that responds tomorrow."

Curry admitted his back started bothering him pregame before last Thursday's game against the Sacramento Kings, and that it's something he has dealt with in the past.

While Curry maintained that he otherwise feels fine, his struggles were evident as Golden State was outrebounded by 15 and turned the ball over 20 times-costly mistakes that allowed Denver to steal a road win without its superstars.

The Warriors just saw their win streak snapped. While Curry remains the team's heart and soul, his back issue raises questions about his durability down the stretch. If Golden State wants to push deep into the postseason, they'll need more than just Curry's assurance-they'll need results.
