Wor Flags gave the Newcastle United players a clear instruction at Wembley, and they delivered.
As the Newcastle United fans held up their scarves, a huge surfer was unveiled inside Wembley. It displayed a book, listing all of the trophies that the Magpies have won.
Above that were two banners that read: “Write your name in the history books.”
Eddie Howe and his players did that on Sunday, as Newcastle United beat Liverpool to win the 2025 Carabao Cup final.

Wor Flags explain Carabao Cup final display
But what was the inspiration for such a fitting display from Wor Flags? According to the group themselves, it was inspired by words from the likes of Bruno Guimaraes.
Following a historic victory at Wembley, Wor Flags explained how their display ‘came to life’ at Wembley.
The wrote on X: “What started as a concept based on the likes of Bruno saying they want to write their names in our history books, suddenly it all came to life. Thank you to everyone who helped with the display. What a day. Suppose we best do something for Brentford…”

What Bruno Guimaraes had said about winning a trophy with Newcastle United
Many Newcastle United players have been very open about their desire to end the club’s trophy drought.
That includes Bruno Guimaraes, who became the first Newcastle United captain to lift a trophy since Bobby Moncur in 1969.
You could see what it meant to the Brazilian. He played incredibly well, and was in tears immediately after the full-time whistle.
Throughout his Newcastle United career, Bruno has made it clear that he wants to write his name in the club’s history books.
In 2022, Bruno told Globo: “English football is a place I’ve always wanted to be, I’ve never hidden it from anyone. Newcastle gave me this opportunity with a great project. I hope to write my name there too.”
After beating Arsenal in the semi-final in February 2025, Bruno told the Independent: “When I signed for the club, I always said I wanted to put my name in the history books and tonight is another big step.”
His words became the inspiration for an incredible Wor Flags display, on a day that Newcastle United fans will remember forever.
The 27-year-old showed his class moments before the Carabao Cup was hoisted high into the air, with Bruno ensuring that Jamaal Lascelles lifted the trophy too alongside himself and Kieran Trippier. That was a brilliant moment.
Bruno and his Newcastle United teammates became legends, as they did what they were asked and wrote their names in the club’s history books.
