Man United have set sights on highly rated young superstar ahead of summer window. This will come as a blow for Arsenal as the player is preferred summer target for Mikel Arteta.
The star in question here is Benjamin Sesko. The North London club have been chasing Sesko since a long time. Firstly, they wanted to sign him in summer 2024 but the deal didn’t work out. In contrast, Sesko extended his stay at EB Leipzig until 2029.
Sesko was once again wanted by Gunners in January but Leipzig has no intention to sell him. However, Sesko is unlikely to stay at Leipzig beyond this season. He has recently signed a new contract in which there is a release clause inserted.
As of now, Sesko’s release clause is at €70 million but it will increase with the goals, assists and games played. It can reach upto €80 million in summer and Gunners can very likely trigger it. The Slovenian is only 21 years old and hence will be looked as long-term investment.
Man United join the race for Benjamin Sesko
According to Florian Plettenberg, Man United have added Sesko to their summer wishlist. In addition, they have sights on Hugo Etike, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres. This suggest that a new striker is a top priority for Ruben Amorim.
However, United may struggle to land Sesko ahead of Arsenal. They will be unable to convince the Slovenian due to absence of UCL football. Infact, they are likely to miss their spot in Europa League and Conference League too.
Gunners also have other options available in market. However, they only have Isak and Sesko as top priority. Signing Isak may prove very tricky due to his transfer fee. Hence, the North London club can turn their full focus on Benjamin Sesko.
