Man City Target Move For£84M Rated French Ace Nearly A Year After He Turned Down Chelsea And Arsenal

Manchester City have been scouting Paris Saint-Germain forward Desire Doue, according to reports.

The winger only joined PSG from Rennes last year in a deal worth an initial €50m last summer.

However, website Esteemed Kompany claims that Doue is on the Cityzens’ radar ahead of the next transfer window as they look to reshape their squad after a difficult season.

Scout have been keeping tabs on the 19-year-old in recent weeks and they have been sending back glowing reports about the youngster’s ability, praising his technique and vision on the ball.

Doue won’t be available on the cheap

It is believed that PSG would demand at least double what they paid for the player last year, which means City would have to stump up around €100m (£84m).

Pep Guardiola‘s side would, therefore, have to get pretty close to their club record, which is currently the £100m they shelled out on Jack Grealish in 2021.

Ironically, Doue would likely be seen as a replacement for Grealish. He is right-footed and prefers to play on the left wing, cutting in onto his stronger side. However, he is also able to play through the middle or on the right flank if required, and that positional flexibility is another asset that has impressed observers.

The City target has been pursued by Premier League clubs before

Prior to his transfer to PSG in August, L’Equipe reported that the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Arsenal were interested in securing Doue’s signature.

However, the teenager opted to remain in France, moving from Rennes to the country’s capital where he has had a strong campaign up until now. He has found the back of the net 7 times and provided 11 assists in 39 appearances.
