Liverpool are reportedly plotting a raid of the Bundesliga with Nico Schlotterbeck and Jeremie Frimpong said to be among four potential summer additions. The Reds could well be facing a summer of change with the uncertainty surrounding key players, as well as, reports that Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz are attracting movies overseas.

According to Sport BILD, with Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold seemingly heading towards the Anfield exit as the trio's current contracts continue to run down, alternatives are being drawn up. And now, it has been claimed that four stars of the German top-flight have played their way into the consideration of Liverpool recruitment chiefs.

The team have come under the microscope following their Champions League exit and Carabao Cup final disappointment. Arne Slot has endured a difficult week, which has seen his side go from potential quadruple challengers to now, facing a Premier League title battle.

The Reds sit 12 points clear at the top-flight summit, which could be reduced further to nine points should Arsenal beat Fulham on the eve of the Merseyside derby next month. But in light of their chastening Wembley display, the focus has now turned to the transfer window with speculation mounting.

According to the German outlet, four players in their league are under consideration as alternatives should Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold fail to agree new deals.

As a result, Borussia Dortmund defender Schlotterbeck and 21-year-old Wolfsburg stopper Konstantinos Koulierakis are being touted as potential targets. The Reds face a possible battle for the 25-year-old from Dortmund with reports suggesting that the Westfalestadion club are looking to make Schlotterbeck the face of the club.

Koulierakis, however, faces links with a move away from Wolfsburg after less than 12 months in the German league after signing from Greek giants PAOK in August.

Sport BILD also cite Caught Offside as a source for reports that Liverpool are targeting Germany star Ansgar Knauff. It was only a matter of months ago that the Reds were facing intense links with former Eintracht Frankfurt Omar Marmoush, who moved to Manchester City in January.

However, the 23-year-old Frankfurt talent is the latest to be mooted with a move to Merseyside as Salah's potential replacement. BILD also claim that Slot is in regular contact with Frimpong and the Dutch tactician wants to bring the defender back to England, after leaving City in 2019.

Reports have suggested that Frimpong has a release clause in the region of €40million, which could be triggered should the Reds have funds to sanction a deal.
