Chelsea have already made a firm decision about their winger’s future. The player is currently on loan away from Stamford Bridge. He has not been able to impress this season and hence his future is surrounded by uncertainties.
The star in question here is Raheem Sterling. He joined Chelsea from Man City as an established winger. But, he was not able to have same impact at Stamford Bridge as he once had at Etihad. Over the two seasons with the Blues, he was only able to register 19 goals and 12 assists in 81 games.
Enzo Maresca took over as Chelsea boss and made it clear to Sterling that he was not part of his plans. This resulted in the 30 year old looking for new club but was unable to find a permanent solution. As a result, he joined Arsenal on loan.
Mikel Arteta had already worked with Sterling and hence was able to convince him. However, the deal has not went as per plans for any of the parties. Sterling has failed to live up the expectations at the Emirates.
Sterling has started only 10 games for Gunners and has registered only 1 goal along with 4 assists. He is unlikely to be made a permanent Arsenal player as Mikel Arteta wants a new winger. Hence, Sterling is likely to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of this season.
Chelsea have already decided about Sterling’s future
Despite Sterling moving back to Chelsea, the club have no intention of keeping him. According to The Athletic, Chelsea have opted against sending Sterling on another loan. In addition, they are also unwilling for a contract buyout and hence Sterling will be sold permanently in summer.
The West London Club is working with representatives of player to find a new club for him. They have interest from Saudi sides but there are still hopes that Sterling can still attract European club. It will be interesting to see which jersey will the 30 year old wear next season.
