Patriots Met With Massive Georgia DT

Teams don't often focus too hard on potential day-three prospects in the NFL Draft. There is a key reason why the New England Patriots are elevating a prospect like Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Nazir Stackhouse.

According to Sportskeeda's Tony Pauline, the Patriots met with Georiga defensive tackle Nazir Stackhouse during the Bulldog's Pro Day. Sportskeeda reported that the meeting was beneficial and informative for both parties involved.

The Patriots met "at length" with DT Nazir Stackhouse at Georgia's pro day, per @TonyPauline.

He is set to be a potential late fifth or sixth-round prospect in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. At 6-4; 317 pounds, Stackhouse possesses a great combination of size, strength, and athleticism. He can find ways of creating pressure in the backfield with either brute strength size or athletic moves.

In three seasons as a starter with the Bulldogs, Stackhouse accumulated 84 total tackles, 39 solo tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks and two pass breakups. Last season as a redshirt senior, he accounted for 27 total tackles, 10 solo tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass breakup.

The Patriots are looking to build solid depth and potential future starters in the upcoming draft. Stackhouse doesn't have a lot of elite talents and attributes, outside of his size. He will be a solid backup behind star nose tackle Christian Barmore, who only played in four games last season due to blood clots.

If Barmore's career is halted more by the serious effects of blood clots, the Patriots may need to make a difficult decision. He is on contract until the 2029 NFL off-season, but he has a potential out next off-season with a $12.8 million dead cap hit.

Stackhouse's size and experience make him an ideal candidate to be a role player in his first season and a potential starter if developed properly.
