Liverpool boss Arne Slot and Bayer Leverkusen wingback Jeremie Frimpong “communicate regularly” and there is a good chance that the player will move to Anfield this summer, according to reports in Germany.
Sport Bild claim that the Netherlands international is being considered as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who could leave Anfield on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Frimpong has impressed during his time in Germany but some fans on X have questioned his defensive capabilities:

A release clause will make Frimpong an attractive target
Sport Bild report that the Reds would be able to snap up the 24-year-old for €40m (£33m) due to a buyout fee in his contract with Leverkusen. That clause has attracted the interest of other teams previously, including Manchester City and Manchester United.
Another benefit to pursuing Frimpong is that he already knows plenty of the club’s players, having trained alongside the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk for the Dutch national team.
Liverpool will have to replace Trent’s creativity
Frimpong is a very attack-minded player. Last season, he racked up 14 goals and 10 assists, while this campaign he has found the back of the net 4 times and created 11 for his teammates.
That means he would be a good replacement for Trent in terms of his output in the final third. However, it must be pointed out that he usually plays as part of a back five. He will need to improve defensively if he wants to perform well at fullback in the Premier League.
