Kiwi forward in latest New Zealand squad
33-year-old wants to achieve more in his career
Chris Wood has opened up on representing New Zealand and what it means to him to pull on the All Whites shirt after being named in the latest international squad.
The Forest forward has 80 caps to his name to date and is closing in on 50 international goals having scored 41 for his country.
The Kiwi told Stuff he feels like returning home whenever he returns to New Zealand and enjoys playing in front of his friends and family.
“It’s huge for me, it’s my home and the place I come back to and feel safe. It feels like home and there’s a nice aura about it.
“I like coming back, seeing family, seeing friends and being able to play in front of them.”

Wood has enjoyed an outstanding campaign in the Garibaldi, having netted 18 goals in the Premier League.
With nine Premier League games to go, and the Reds still competing in the Emirates FA Cup, the 33-year-old is pleased with his campaign so far, but insists there is still plenty for him to achieve and aim for in the coming months.
“It’s fantastic and I’m glad I’ve been able to do it. I’ve always believed I could do it but I’ve had a great team around me to be able to do it.
“We’ve done extremely we’ll and we’ll continue to do that; there’s a lot we want to achieve this season.
“It’s nice to have had a season like this; things are working out perfectly.

“There’s a lot more I want to achieve in football, I want to achieve as much as possible, I believe age is just a number and I’m hoping I’ve proven that.
“There’s a lot more to come from me; you never know when your best time is going to happen.
“Hopefully I can hit the 20 (goal) mark, then the 25 mark, there’s the 100 club I’d love to be apart of. Then I want to score as many as I can for New Zealand, get to the 50 mark and 100 appearances for New Zealand would be lovely.”
