Jarrod Bowen is back on England duty this week as he continues to star at West Ham United.

Bowen was called up to Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad ahead of World Cup qualifying games this week against Albania and Latvia.

The 28-year-old has already gained 14 caps for the national team and will be hoping he has the opportunity to have an impact under a new manager.

Dan Burn sends apology to Bowen

It may have been a bit of a difficult season for West Ham, but Bowen is one man who has been a standout performer again, giving his all on the pitch.

Although he was injured as Graham Potter settled into life in East London, since recovering, he has proven to be a crucial player for his new boss.

Giving his all for his side, he is similar to Dan Burn, who scored the first goal for his boyhood team Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday (16 March).

The defender received his first England call-up under Tuchel and was on press conference duties as a result.

When asked if he has had to have a chat with anyone for things previously done at club level, Burn admitted he was guilty, as he said: “I remember I absolutely smashed Jarrod when he was at West Ham and I did, straightaway I went to apologise. I think it was a bit of red mist.”

Reporter: “Who have been your toughest opponents where you’ve had to have an apologetic chat after?”

Burn: “Yeah there’s a few. I remember I absolutely smashed Jarrod [Bowen] when he was at West Ham!”😂

Bowen continuing to shine for West Ham

The fact that Burn was left having to smash into Bowen at club level due to the red mist shows just how frustrating the 28-year-old can be to play against.

This makes him popular at West Ham but also further afield with Troy Deeney and Ally McCoist full of praise for the Irons man as well.

With the Hammers struggling at the top end of the pitch this term, with Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug out injured as well as Even Ferguson struggling to get going, Bowen has proved to his new boss that he can be reliable.

Relegation is all but confirmed to be off the cards for West Ham this term, so now it’s about ending the season in good form, with several players needing to prove themselves for next season.

Bowen will most certainly be in the plans, though, and both he and Potter will be looking forward to a better season in East London.
