Victor Osimhen teases big transfer decision, Galatasaray chief hints at Man Utd interest

Victor Osimhen will reveal his future in April with Manchester United believed to be courting him after a brilliant year in Turkey.

Manchester United are fully expected to search for a new striker when the summer transfer window opens.

It has been a dire campaign for the Reds, who have struggled in front of goal, scoring just 37 goals in 29 matches.

That will raise question marks about the striker options available to Ruben Amorim, but United have prioritised young recruits in recent years. There is also a strong feeling within the fanbase that neither Rasmus Hojlund nor Joshua Zirkzee are the finished article.

Hojlund ended a 21-match streak without a goal when he scored the opener in United’s 3-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Zirkzee has only been able to score six goals in his first season to date.

A messy financial situation at United means Ineos need to take a careful approach to the transfer market. They must work out which deals are worth pursuing with whatever funding is made available to Amorim.

The future of Victor Osimhen remains unsolved.

The Nigerian striker joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in the summer, and it is understood that the Serie A outfit are ready to cash in by agreeing a permanent deal this summer.

United have been linked with Osimhen, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently warned that it depends on how much money the club’s financial situation.

That doesn’t change the fact United will be in the hunt for a goalscorer this summer. And, it makes sense that Osimhen is a target due to his availability.

Speaking at a press conference at Galatasaray’s headquarters, the club’s vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu was asked about Osimhen’s future.

He said, as quoted by Calcio Napoli 1926: “Osimhen will inform us of his decision in April.

“At the moment, the top five clubs in the world have also shown interest in him.”

Kavukcu was keen to stress that Galatasaray have a serious fight on their hands to land Osimhen this summer.

“Osimhen’s arrival was a dream come true,” Kavukcu added. “Now he is here and playing for us. In January, there was talk of him leaving, but he stayed because he loves Galatasaray. Today, he is the player all our rivals would like to have.”

Osimhen rocks Super Lig

Galatasaray are on course to win the Super Lig as they sit on top of the table, with Fenerbahce trailing by 9 points in second place.

Osimhen is topping the scoring charts in the Super Lig with 20 goals. The Napoli loanee is closely followed by Istanbul Basaksehir’s Krzysztof Piatek, who has scored two fewer goals.

A strong end to the season would see Osimhen become a league champion in Turkey. That’s one way to make the most of a loan deal and have to wait another year for a big move.

Osimhen is back in action this weekend when Galatasaray travel to high-flying Besiktas in the league.

Besiktas are enjoying a bit of a turnaround under former United manager and striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
