The Golden State Warriors found themselves in the loser's column on Monday night. That is a place they have been unfamiliar with lately. They dropped a disappointing 114-105 ball game to the undermanned Denver Nuggets. Some were quick to point fingers at Stephen Curry for this.
Despite the Nuggets missing MVP candidate Nikola Jokic, starting point guard Jamal Murray, and key contributor Christian Braun, Denver still managed to pull away early in this game and seal the deal by the end of the night. Curry's underwhelming shooting performance was viewed as detrimental to a handful of people.
The Warriors superstar scored 20 points in this contest, but the efficiency at which he did it was lackluster, to put it kindly. Curry only connected on 6-of-21 from the field, posting a disappointing 28.6 percent from the field. The four-time champion also turned the ball over seven times in this one.
This was only the second loss that Golden State have suffered with Jimmy Butler in the lineup. Steve Kerr made sure his point guard did not receive the wrath for this loss. The Warriors head coach quickly dismissed the criticism towards Curry.
**"He's tired, Steph's been carrying us for a month. He's been amazing, he's tired, so we got to get him some rest. You can see it, he doesn't have his energy right now. ...
He's exhausted right now. So we've got to absolutely consider giving him a night and getting him rejuvenated for the sake of him and the remainder of our games. We'll see, but I think he's been tired the last few games, and so we've got to find a way to get him his juice back."**
