Everton will host the second test event at the Everton Stadium in Bramley-Moore Dock on March 23 where the club’s U21s will take on Bolton Wanderers B. This test event, set to host nearly 25,000 fans, will also feature an evacuation procedure which is necessary to obtain the safety licence for the venue that will serve as the club’s home ground from next season.
Bramley-Moore Dock opened its doors to fans for the first time on February 17 as 10,000 lucky Evertonians witnessed the U18s take on Wigan Athletic. The planned test events are necessary for the club to obtain the licence and safety certificates to operate the stadium at its full capacity of 52,888.
Tickets for the second test events have already been sold out. As part of the evacuation procedure, fans will be asked to evacuate the stadium during the second-half and before the full-time whistle is blown.
Spectators will be safely guided out of the stadium and have already been informed not to congregate in groups outside. They will be asked to leave like they would after a match comes to an end and once outside, they can’t return back inside.
The entire process will help emergency services and local authorities plan a large-scale evacuation of the site in case of an emergency. Supporters have been requested to follow the rules to fulfil the purpose of the second test event.
Everton are currently discussing with local transport authorities how to manage the flow of people away from Bramley Moore-Dock. The event will kick off at 2:00 PM local time and those attending the game have been advised to avoid the Kingsway Tunnel which will be fully closed from 7:00 PM onwards. The Queensway Tunnel will remain open as usual.
