He was Frank Lampard’s ‘best player’ at Everton, now he’s failing miserably in Saudi Arabia and …

Frank Lampard replaced Rafael Benitez at Everton in January 2022.

Frank Lampard was brought in to steer the Toffees away from relegation and he managed to do it with a few games to spare.

Demarai Gray was a big part of achieving safety that season as he registered nine goal involvements following his bargain £1.7m switch from Bayer Leverkusen.

Gray was considered Lampard’s ‘best player’ at one stage but once Sean Dyche came in, he was moved to the fringes.

The Jamaica international left Goodison Park for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq in 2023 but it’s not really paid off.

Demarai Gray hasn’t scored a single goal in Saudi this season

Demarai Gray’s Saudi experience hasn’t really worked out as he’s scored just four goals in 41 outings for Al-Ettifaq.

This season, Gray is yet to get off the mark and has registered just one assist in 16 games, so he now wants to end his spell in the Middle East.

According to The Sun, the former Everton wideman informed Steven Gerrard of his desire to leave in January, with Fulham named as a potential destination.

Al Ettifaq want £5m for Gray

It seems Gray will once again push for a move this summer transfer window and Al Ettifaq will sanction his sale if they receive offers of around £5m.

Gray’s family remained in England so he’s eager to move back to the Premier League, though, his form in Saudi may have put forthcoming buyers off.

The 28-year-old has impressed on the international stage with Jamaica, though, netting seven times since making his debut less than two years ago.
