Report: Premier League manager now urging his club to do all they can to sign ‘outstanding’ Liverpool player

Liverpool’s season is heading for a somewhat disappointing ending after Sunday’s Carabao Cup loss to Newcastle United.

The Reds were easily beaten at Wembley Stadium by the Magpies as rumoured Liverpool target Alexander Isak inspired Newcastle to a historic win against Liverpool, with Arne Slot’s side now only in for the Premeir League.

With a 12-point lead over Arsenal, though, it would take something seismic for the Anfield side to not win the league from here, with Thierry Henry still backing Liverpool to lift the Premier League title at some point this season.

Yet away from the pitch, a Premier League manager is now urging his club to get in early in a bid to sign a Liverpool player this summer.

Andoni Iraola pressing AFC Bournemouth to sign Caoimhin Kelleher

According to TalkSport, AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is pushing the Cherries to accelerate their bid to sign Caoimhin Kelleher, with the Liverpool goalkeeper expected to leave Anfield this summer having once again been second choice this season.

Kelleher’s appearance for Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final could well be the Republic of Ireland international’s last for the Reds with only the Premier League to focus on this season, a competition where Alisson Becker has been Slot’s choice between the sticks.

And with Kelleher linked with an exit from Liverpool for almost two years heading into this summer, a departure seems right for the Cork-born goalkeeper this year, with Bournemouth an ideal club for the 26-year-old.

Indeed, the Cherries have been one of the surprise packages in the Premier League this season, and if Bournemouth end the season strongly, there’s a chance that Kelleher could be playing European football at the Vitality Stadium.

Who else could leave Liverpool this summer?

Kelleher might have been ‘outstanding’ at Liverpool this season, but every supporter will agree that the goalkeeper leaving this summer is the right decision, with the Irish shot-stopper simply too good to be a backup option.

And Kelleher is unlikely to be the only big-name player to leave Anfield this summer, with Luis Diaz believed to be edging towards the exit at Liverpool with Darwin Nunez also potentially ready to depart Merseyside.

With big signings expected at Liverpool this summer, the squad could be set for it’s biggest overhaul in years, with Kelleher’s departure likely to be one of the first to go through given how straightforward a deal could be for Bournemouth the reach.
