Samsung has announced the official release date for One UI 7, based on Android 15, for devices other than the Galaxy S25. The stable version will begin rolling out on April 7, 2025, starting with the Galaxy S24 series (S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra). These flagship devices have been part of the beta program since late last year.
After the initial release, Samsung plans to expand the rollout to other devices in the following weeks. The update will gradually become available for the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, the Galaxy S23 series and S23 FE, the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, the Galaxy Tab S10 series, the Galaxy Tab S9 series, and the Galaxy S24 FE. The exact timelines for these models may vary depending on regions, carriers, and testing phases, as reported by Sammy Fans.
One UI 7 brings quite a few new features and improvements. It has a redesigned interface with a new home screen, updated One UI widgets, and a customizable lock screen. The update also includes a Now Bar that gives real-time updates on the lock screen without unlocking the phone. It's basically the iPhone's Dynamic Island but more accessible, as it's at the bottom of the screen.
The update also adds Google Gemini integration, enabling voice-based searches and commands and natural language search in Settings for easier navigation.
There are rumors of a new video recording feature that supports capturing LOG (logarithmic footage) videos on the Galaxy S24 series. This could let users record a wider dynamic range in both very dark and very bright conditions.
Samsung's rollout of One UI 7 comes after that of some competitors, such as Google's Android 15 release for Pixel phones in late 2024.
