Man City star pleads with Pep Guardiola not to sell him as contract runs down

Bernardo Silva is keen to remain at Manchester City this summer and see out his contract, despite speculation that he might be part of a major squad shake-up. Amidst a challenging season for many of City's stars, with the team currently sitting in fifth place and out of the Champions League, Silva has faced his own struggles. However, the 30-year-old midfielder, who boasts 394 appearances for City over eight seasons, is resolute in his desire to achieve further triumphs with the club.

With one year remaining on his contract, Silva has been rumoured to be on the move this summer, yet he has made it clear that his focus is on the upcoming season with the Blues. "I wanted to win a Premier League, I wanted to win a Champions League, I wanted to win an FA Cup," Silva said. "But I never thought specifically that I would, in seven years, win six Premier Leagues. The journey has just been crazy and hopefully it doesn't stop here. But yeah, it's been good."

Silva's transfer to City in 2017 for £43.5million came after his standout performances for Monaco, who ousted City from the last 16 of the Champions League during Guardiola's inaugural season.

Silva joked: "That's when you guys decided you couldn't beat me, so you had to buy me!" He recalled Guardiola's praise after their initial encounter, "Pep congratulated me after beating me in the first game, because after the second game he was probably too mad to come and talk to me. I don't remember exactly the words, but I remember him telling me that he was really impressed.

"I also remember the day after my agent called me and said 'They were re 'ally impressed and they might go for you'. It was a really great experience to play at the Etihad and who knew it would be the first of a lot - a lot - of games?"
