Cole Palmer has returned to Chelsea from the England camp due to injury, per the west London club. The Blues' talismanic figure did not feature against Arsenal after picking up ane injury in training on Saturday.
Thomas Tuchel will not be afforded the opportunity to utilise England's player of the year for his first matches in charge of the Three Lions. England said the player 'remains with Chelsea for further assessment on an injury sustained in training ahead of his club's fixture at Arsenal last Sunday'.
Morgan Gibbs-White has already reported for duty after being called up on Sunday. The Nottingham Forest creator was a surprise omission from Tuchel's squad but was swiftly asked to join the group after Palmer's absence against the Gunners.
Following defeat to Mikel Arteta's side, Enzo Maresca revealed Palmer would undergo a scan on Monday and not join up with England. The Italian suggested he would be happy for the former Manchester City ace to have a break, though there was no immediate announcement of a withdrawl.
"His injury was from yesterday’s session, it’s a muscular problem," said Maresca. "He needs a scan, and it is planned for tomorrow [Monday] morning.
"I hope he can be back for our next game, but we need to wait for a scan. We don’t wish players injury, but probably in Cole’s case in this moment it will give him some rest, physically and mentally, it could be good."
Tuesday saw ex-Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel lead his England squad for training. Under-21s trio Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Adam Wharton and Liam Delap were also involved in the session at St. George's Park.
