It’s been an extremely successful couple of years for Nottingham Forest central defender Murillo.
The defender checked in from Corinthians for £10.6 million as a player with little experience in men’s football and a player who was viewed as one for the future.
Steve Cooper had some harsh words for Murillo when he first signed and with those ringing in his ears, it would appear he’s taken his game to the next level.
Forest beat Manchester City to the signing of Murillo and in the next fortnight, he could become a Brazil international for the very first time.
Ian Wright has said that he’d pay to watch Murillo and right now, he’s performing brilliantly in the Forest team alongside Nikola Milenkovic.

First look at Murillo in Brazil training gear as he trains alongside Vinicius Junior
Last month, Murillo was called into the Brazil squad for the very first time but didn’t make it on the pitch.
Now, with Forest flying high in the Premier League table, perhaps Murillo will be in a better position to get the nod to get on the pitch against either Colombia or Argentina.
Brazil has posted some footage of the current crop training on their Instagram story and Murillo has been spotted in the same footage as the Real Madrid star.
MORE FOREST STORIES
It’s pretty crazy to think that three years ago, Forest were playing Championship football and now the team has Brazil internationals mixing it with the world’s best.
Murillo stats 2024/25
It was hard to imagine Murillo being better this year than he was last season but that’s definitely what he’s managed to do at Forest.
The 22-year-old has the world at his feet and it was so important for Forest to get Murillo tied down to a new deal in the January transfer window.
Murillo stats 2024/25 Total
Appearances 28
Tackles 42
Blocks 37
Aerials Won 33
Interceptions 26
The left-sided defender will inevitably sign for a truly massive club at some point in his career but if Forest can secure Champions League football maybe there’s hope he might stay.
It would be great to see Murillo get minutes for Brazil in the coming fortnight and that might even stick a bit more money on his eventual price tag.
