Bronny James Delivers Memorable Shot in Lakers’ Victory Over Spurs

On Monday night, the San Antonio Spurs fell to the Los Angeles Lakers, losing 125-109. Rookie Stephon Castle led the Spurs' scoring effort with 23 points, and the Lakers enjoyed 30 points from Austin Reaves and 14 assists from Luka Doncic, showcasing that even once LeBron James--who did not play--rides off into the sunset, Lakers basketball will be in good hands.

On top of that, Jeremy Sochan and Jarred Vanderbilt were both ejected for getting as close to fighting as possible in the modern NBA. Despite the game not being particularly close, it was full of highlight-worthy moments.

However, one shot stole the show.

In the final minutes of the game, Bronny James dribbled between Julian Champagnie and Blake Wesley and drilled a 3-pointer. It was his fifth career make from a distance, but his first in front of the home crowd at Crypto.com Arena, which is why he was met with a standing ovation.

The Lakers' bench seemed enthused as well, although LeBron James seemed to have expected it.

Picked 55th overall by the Lakers in 2024, it's easy to call Bronny the league's ultimate "Nepo Baby," although it's worth noting that the Spurs' two second-round picks, Harrison Ingram and Juan Nunez, are not even in an NBA rotation. As far as late-round picks go, Bronny is playing exactly as expected.

Perhaps the James Family Circus is putting him in some unfair situations and the constant media attention does drain fans, although it's safe to say that there are worse players in the league than Bronny, and as far as 12th-men go, he's not a bad option at all.
