Newcastle United‘s Carabao Cup final heroes Alexander Isak and Dan Burn joined Eddie Howe in a post-match interview on CBS Sports after Sunday’s cup final heroics.
Burn’s first-half header was hailed as “unbelievable” by his manager as they caught up with Thierry Henry, Micah Richards and Kate Abdo after they ended Newcastle’s 70-year trophy drought.
It’s an interview you may well have missed and well worth a watch for those who were at Wembley or watching on ITV or Sky Sports instead.
Premier League legend Thierry Henry discussed the performance with Eddie Howe, who discussed our approach, performance and the roles of Alexander Isak and Dan Burn in the historic win.
Burn then signed off his interview with CBS Sports with his signature dance after he, Isak and Howe took time away from the celebrations to share a few words.
Praise was lumped on the big man from Blyth – Howe was full of praise for his “unbelievable header” – and Henry turned to Isak for his thoughts on his work off the ball, not just his skills and quality in possession.
Watch the clip in full below, which also features the thoughts of Kieran Trippier just after the seven-minute mark:
Isak thought comparison’s to a ‘young Thierry Henry’ were ‘a stretch’, feeling he ‘needs to do more’ to be compared to the Frenchman – but he’s certainly going in the right direction!
Released by Newcastle at 11. Worked at Asda in a part-time job at 16. Relegated with Wigan at 25. Carabao Cup winner and England call-up at 32. Dan Burn has shared his first words in the Three Lions camp.
Will it be Amazon, BBC or Sky doing a documentary (or movie) on the incredible story of Burn would have been my question if I was in the media room as the big man faced questions from the press.
“I’ve definitely had worse weeks!” said the lifelong Mag. “Sunday still hasn’t sunk in. I don’t think it will for a long time. I still feel numb about it all. I want to feel something! But now all of my focus is England and how I can help.”
