"Prepared For Something New": 99-Game Man United Star Hints At Future Away From Old Trafford

Man United midfielder Christian Eriksen has hinted that his future won’t be at Old Trafford beyond this season.

The Red Devils will be looking ahead to the summer transfer window as they try and work out who will depart the club and who they want to bring in.

Ruben Amorim‘s side are 13th in the Premier League after a 3-0 win against Leicester City in their last game. Their only hope of Silverware this year now remains on the Europa League. They have a tie against Lyon in the Quarter-finals which will take place after the international break.

One of the players heading out on international duty is midfielder Christian Eriksen, whose contract at Old Trafford is due to expire at the end of the season.

It hasn’t been confirmed if United plans to extend his contract at the club before the summer, however, the Danish midfielder has hinted about leaving himself.

The Sun reported that he told Danish media: “I haven’t thought about it that much. It’s the same principle as last time, the contract expires in the summer, so in my head I’m prepared to find something new.

“I’m actually fine with that, whatever it is, it’s not something I’ve decided yet.”

Eriksen has made 99 appearances for United in a three-year spell, scoring seven goals and providing 17 assists. He’s made just 16 Premier League appearances this season.

Which other Man United players are due to become free agents?

There are currently three other Man United players whose contracts are set to expire in the summer transfer window, all of which look very much set to leave Old Trafford.

Firstly, defender Victor Lindelof’s deal at the club will run out. The Swedish international has spent eight years at the club since joining from Portuguese side Benfica in 2017.

Centre-back Jonny Evans is also expected to leave the club at the age of 37. He has made over 240 appearances for Man United over two separate spells at the club.

Finally, backup goalkeeper Tom Heaton’s contract is also due to expire, the 28-year-old is expected to retire and has previously suggested that he’d like to go into coaching.
